Mentoring for writers seeking support
and feedback on works-in-progress or
to help achieve writing goals.
Looking for focused feedback on your writing? Do you need help with motivation and accountability for your writing habits? Do you perhaps want to discuss publishing opportunities and avenues, and how to balance your writing with your work?
Let me help you on your way to achieving your writing goals, whether that’s through helping you navigate the world of publishing, developing a writing schedule and habit that works for you, or helping you with the nuances of writing.
Session-based mentoring – $350
What’s included:
- Three hours of one-on-one mentoring (in-person or via Zoom)
- Review of up to 10,000 words.
- Additional follow-up sessions at $50/hour.
Session-based mentoring is short-term mentoring that is perfect for anyone seeking one-on-one advice or coaching in an area of their choice. This can include direct feedback on the first (or any) chapter of your book, advice on specific aspects of your book (such as characterisation, worldbuilding, plot, etc.), advice on submitting to publishers or self-publishing, or help developing a writing routine. This mentoring allows for a quicker, once-off approach to help you tackle a specific problem and to help you build specific skills and knowledge.
The three hours of this session can be broken up however you would prefer, whether that is one-hour sessions split out over three different days or all three hours in one sitting.
As part of this mentoring, you can also provide a 10,000 word sample of your writing, your manuscript or your plotting and I will review it. This can be a couple of chapters of your book, a short story or anything you want to have a professional eye on. I will be sure to provide you with valuable, actionable feedback to help you improve and excel.
Accountability mentoring – $800*
What’s included:
- Monthly catch-up sessions for 12 months.
- First session is 2 hours.
- Remaining sessions are 1 hour each.
Accountability mentoring/coaching is great for those who need external motivation to help keep on track with their writing plans and goals and to get words on the page.
We will meet once a month (either in-person or via Zoom) for a check-in about your writing and how it is going. We can determine together whether you’re on track to meet your goals, and what obstacles are in the way of you achieving them; whether it comes down to finding time to write or whether its a particular scene or aspect of your manuscript. Together we can work toward solving those issues in a way tailored to you to ultimately help you achieve your writing potential.
This longer-term mentoring is great for providing external motivation, to give you a cheerleader in your fight against the blank page, and to provide you that accountability and support to keep you typing.
Please note this level of mentoring does not involve reading any of your manuscript, and works well for those who are not yet ready for feedback on their writing.
Full mentoring – $2,500*
What’s included:
- Monthly catch-up sessions for 12 months.
- Monthly reviews of up to 7,500 words.
- First session is 2 hours.
- Remaining sessions are 1 hour each
The full mentoring package is perfect for those writers who either need help navigating the self-editing stage or who want a guiding hand while working on a new novel altogether.
Each month, you can have up to 7,500 words of your manuscript reviewed and have actionable feedback provided. This will involve track changes and comments through the 7,500 words to help identify any issues in style, clarity, continuity and tone.
We will then meet each month (either in-person or via Zoom) to discuss the manuscript and any other aspects of writing or publishing that you would like insight into. This can involve helping you develop your writing routine, determining what options are available for you to publish or just helping you find the motivation and inspiration to keep writing and smash those goals.
*Monthly payment plans are available for the longer-term mentoring options

I had the pleasure of working with Liam on one of our most recent projects. His passion, professionalism and keen eye give him all the tools for editorial excellence.

The greatest joy of having collaborated with Liam was an emerging relationship of complete trust in his knowledge and a little bit of a bonus: his inspiring writing style and personal expression that guided me, throughout my little journey. Liam encouraged my ambition and nurtured my determination, and we worked very much in synchronisation that put me at ease. Reliability is a major attribute Liam possesses; his punctuality and timely manner of completion make him an exceptional professional.

The highlight of our collaboration so far has been the mentoring workshops. Going to Liam for a beta-read first and then using the mentoring workshops to talk through the report he provided and receive advice through that service worked especially well for me. I appreciated the flexibility he provided—not just in how the sessions were structured, but also in their frequency and length. I enjoyed working together with tackling the behemoth of a task of editing my draft, while also allowing room for insightful side conversations about the publishing industry and current trends. After having received Liam’s feedback from both the beta-reader report and the workshops, I feel a lot more confident in my writing skills. Having Liam to coach me through the publishing process and help me make decisions about approaching changes to polish my draft has been invaluable.
